Explanation

Explanation · İngilis + Azərbaycan

Purpose = why someone does something. English has several patterns.

AZ
Məqsəd = kimsə nəyə görə bir şey edir. İngiliscə bunu bir neçə quruluşla ifadə edirik.
1 to / in order to + base verb · məqsəd
2 so that / in order that + subject + verb · tam cümlə
3 for + … + to for us to leave

1. to / in order to / so as to + base verb

All introduce the same idea; in order to and so as to sound more formal or emphatic.

AZ
Hamısı «ki, məqsəd budur» deməkdir; in order toso as to daha rəsmi və ya vurğulu səslənir. İnkar: so as not to / in order not to.
Nümunə axını
tocatchthe train
  • I went early to catch the train.
  • She locked the door in order to feel safe.
  • He left quietly so as not to wake them.

2. so that / in order that + subject + verb

These need a full clause (subject + verb). Often use a modal: can, could, will, would.

AZ
Burada tam cümlə (öz+feil) lazımdır. Tez-tez modal feillər: can, could, will, would — «ki, bacarsın/bilsin» kimi məna verir.
  • I’ll text you so that you know where we are.
  • He spoke slowly so that everyone could understand.
  • In order that the plan might succeed, we rehearsed twice. (formal)

3. for + noun/pronoun + to + verb

Shows who the action is for, or what must happen.

AZ
«Kimin üçün» və ya «nə etmək lazımdır» — isim/əvəzlikdən sonra to + feil.
Quruluş
forusto leave
  • It’s time for us to leave.
  • There’s nothing for you to worry about.
