Compound adjectives combine words (often with hyphens) before a noun. With numbers, the noun in the compound is usually singular.

AZ
Mürəkkəb sifətlər adətən defislə yazılır və isimdən əvvəl gəlir. Rəqəmli birləşmələrdə isim adətən tək qalır.
A
Before noun (hyphens)
a ten-year-old child
B
After noun (no hyphens)
The child is ten years old.

Patterns

  • a five-page report — *five-pages* yox
  • a two-hour meeting
  • a ten-year-old child
  • a second-hand car / a well-known author
AZ
Nümunə: five-page səhifə sayı tək; ten-year-old yaş ifadəsi defislə.

After the noun

Hyphens often disappear: The child is ten years old. (no hyphens; plural years)

AZ
İsimdən sonra: defislər gedir, yaş «il» çoxluqda: ten years old.
